Hoya 82mm UV & IR Cut Filter

The Hoya 82mm UV & IR Cut Filter (HMC) is a specialist dual-action filter designed for digital SLR and cine cameras that lack a built-in infrared-cut filter in front of the sensor. It blocks UV rays below 390nm and IR rays above 700nm, allowing only light in the visible spectrum to reach the sensor. Unfiltered CCD and CMOS sensors are highly susceptible to UV and IR contamination outside the visible range, which can degrade colour accuracy, reduce sharpness, and introduce unwanted cast. Hoya’s multi-layer coatings are applied to both surfaces of the optical glass, suppressing reflections and increasing light transmission for consistent results across the visible spectrum. The slim aluminium frame keeps the filter’s profile low to minimise vignetting, even on super-wide-angle lenses, and front and rear threads allow standard lens caps and additional filters to be stacked.

• Blocks UV rays below 390nm and IR rays above 700nm — only visible-spectrum light reaches your sensor
• HMC multi-layer coatings on both glass surfaces significantly reduce flare, ghosting, and reflections
• Slim aluminium frame helps prevent vignetting on super-wide-angle lenses
• Reduces atmospheric haze more effectively than a standard UV filter alone for cleaner outdoor shots
• Front and rear threads allow stacking of additional filters and fitting of a standard lens cap
