The Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III is a telephoto zoom lens built around the Canon EF mount, covering a focal length range of 75mm to 300mm with a 4x zoom ratio. Designed for full-frame Canon EOS DSLR cameras and fully compatible with APS-C bodies too it is well suited to a wide variety of subjects including portraiture, sports, and wildlife, delivering genuine telephoto reach in a compact and relatively lightweight form factor of just 480g. The lens features Super Spectra coatings on individual elements to reduce flare and ghosting for accurate colour rendition and high contrast, alongside a seven-blade diaphragm that produces smooth, pleasing background blur.

Autofocus is driven by an integrated DC micro motor, providing fast and accurate subject acquisition across the zoom range. The variable maximum aperture runs from f/4 at 75mm to f/5.6 at 300mm, and the minimum focusing distance of 1.5m (approximately 4.9ft) allows for reasonably close subject work at longer focal lengths. The 58mm filter thread gives access to a broad range of compatible filters, and the lens’s electromagnetic diaphragm ensures precise aperture control shot to shot. Note that this lens does not feature optical image stabilisation, so higher shutter speeds or a stable support are recommended when shooting handheld at the longer end of the zoom range.
